"I
first began flagging in
Sydney
in 1997, I think. I took part in two Mardi Gras parades and even
got a three quarter page photo of me flagging in the Canberra
Times. Bloody funny.
"I
moved to
Adelaide
in 2000, just after filming on the Baz Luhrman film Moulin Rouge.
During this time as part of the dance team on the film I twisted
my knee and was unable to do some of the choreography required for
the Hindi scene. I was not prepared to sit on the side lines
during the filming so I suggested to Mr Luhrman that I could do
some flagging during that scene. he told me the during his
research he discovered that the woman who was most the most famous
star at the time the film was set was a nude performer that has
weighted fabrics she used to waive around her body creating a sexy
and alluring performance (something we Flagmanians have a natural
flair for!). He thought it was a great idea and now you can see me
(sort of) at the opening of that scene.
I
have done a few gigs in
Adelaide
with my flags since being here and then was asked to help with the
then SA PRIDE Flaggers for the parade in 2005. What a buzz that
was. We have a great time as I put the bois thru their paces each
week. Come and join us as we gaily wave our arms about, for a bit
of uplifting exercise and recreation.
