"Hi
I'm Wayne, mid 30's, currently single and I happily joined the
Flagging group for the 2005 FEAST festival Opening March. I
really enjoyed the different skills, group harmony and the
fantastic costumes used. It took commitment and persistence to
gain the skills and perform as a group, in this venture and
the gigs since.
My
mother has always encouraged/ pushed my 'girlie' side, much to my
dismay and the first gig back in '05 was girlie to watch, but we
also looked so hot and the crowd appreciated our costumes
greatly.
I have
enjoyed supporting this different group in the gay
community, and I feel that we are losing other community
groups due to lack of interest and general lethargy by
individuals.
Flagging
is an uplifting experience for me and displays a
positive, active image for the gay society. The
exercise that it apart of the preparation of this demanding
activity made us all fit athletic guys who wave
flags in unison and have fun. What could be better?
And
a final quote from a curious parent who walked in on the class
one night; after a long stare he announced "your
all men, and your dancing"; yes we are!."
